Read the story. See the place.
The full list stays readable while the map follows the place in view. Choose a pin, and its entry comes forward.

A map with your point of view
Give us your list. We’ll turn it into an interactive map that looks and works like part of your site.
You choose the places and write the story. We check locations, build the map, adapt it to your brand, help publish it, and keep it current.

THE IDEA
A thoughtful list deserves more than a set of dots. MapEdition keeps your descriptions, photos, and practical links connected to the geography, so readers can explore by either the writing or the map.
Food guides were our starting point. The same approach works for trails, independent shops, venues, attractions, neighborhood guides, and “what’s nearby” collections.
THE READER EXPERIENCE
One selected place stays connected across the list, pins, and cards. The experience changes shape for the screen in someone’s hand.
The full list stays readable while the map follows the place in view. Choose a pin, and its entry comes forward.

Switch between the full list and map, then swipe through place cards. The selected pin stays visible above the cards.

See the working example. The hero animation illustrates how the list and map follow each other. The desktop and phone screenshots show the archived January 2026 Charleston food map, an example of the software and reading experience rather than a current dining guide.

MapEdition fills the gap between a generic map builder and a custom development project. We specialize in editorial maps, tailor the experience to your site, and take care of delivery.
Low-cost tools can plot places quickly, but often leave you with a generic look, limited reader experience, and a map hosted away from your own domain.
You do the setup and upkeep. You provide the list and point of view. We verify locations, design the reading experience, match your site, publish it, and handle updates.
A finished, supported map.A fully bespoke map can cost several thousand dollars. That makes sense when you need specialized functionality and a development team.
A larger upfront project.DESIGNED TO BELONG
We adapt the color, typography, layout, place cards, pins, and map treatment to support your publication or project. It should read as a natural part of your brand, from the first headline to the last directions link.
The treatments here illustrate how the same map format can carry different visual identities.
A collection of places with a point of view, connected to the map around them.
SIMPLE FOR YOU
No dashboard to learn. No coordinates to find. We take care of the work between your document and a map readers can use.
A document or spreadsheet is enough. Include names, location details, your descriptions, photos you can use, and helpful links.
We check the locations, resolve ambiguity with you, and build the list, pins, cards, and visual treatment.
We test desktop and phone views, host the map, and help place it in your article or on a dedicated page.
Send corrections or new places as your collection changes. We handle the updates with you.
A CLEAR STARTING POINT
We built MapEdition for customers who want a polished map on their own site without paying several thousand dollars upfront. A cheap, off-the-shelf tool may put pins on a map, but its visual style and reading experience rarely feel like your publication. Instead, we specialize in editorial maps and spread the build cost over an accessible 12-month subscription. After payment 12, the payments stop and your map stays live, with hosting included at no charge.
These are indicative rates. We’ll define the scope, full 12-month cost, and any unusual integration or traffic needs before work begins.
Ask about your mapDevelopment payments end. Hosting stays included at no charge.
GOOD TO KNOW
Bring the places and the perspective. We’ll help work out the rest.
A document or spreadsheet with place names and enough location detail to identify them. Include the descriptions you want shown, any photos you have permission to use, and official or booking links. We’ll flag anything ambiguous.
Where your platform allows it, we can help embed the map in an article or page. A dedicated page under your site or domain is another option. We check the published experience on desktop and phone; a newsletter can link to it.
No. Your selection and editorial judgment make the map worth visiting. We turn that selection into a connected reading and mapping experience.
Send us corrections or additions. We handle ongoing updates. If a requested change is substantial enough to start a new development period, we’ll explain the cost before doing the work.
LET’S PUT YOUR PLACES ON THE MAP
Tell us what you cover, where the places are, and where the map should live. We’ll help turn the list into something readers can explore.
